a leading Monmouthshire-based supplier of CtP systems, has had an incredibly busy start to 2025, successfully shipping nine refurbished Thermal CtP units to customers across the globe.
The shipments include two Kodak Magnus VLF CtP systems sent to China, a Screen PT-R-8900 HDS delivered to Jordan, two Screen PT-R-4300-S units shipped to Lagos, two Screen PT-R-8100 systems dispatched to Colombia, a Screen PT-4000 MkII sent to Tanzania, and a Screen PT-R-4300-E delivered to Ireland.
Meeting the Growing Demand for Thermal CtP Upgrades
Peter Flynn, Managing Director of IGS, highlighted the increasing demand for Thermal CtP systems.
“As major plate manufacturers begin phasing out Violet plate production, existing Violet CtP users are actively seeking cost-effective upgrade solutions. Additionally, early adopters of Thermal CtP—those using Creo Trendsetters, Luscher, or Basysprint UV CtP systems—are now looking for faster and fully automated CtP technology. The shipment of the PT-R-8900 to Jordan, which replaces a 2006 Agfa Avalon manual CtP with an advanced automatic loader system, is a prime example of this shift.”
Another key factor driving demand is the rising cost of polyester plates compared to thermal non-process plates, especially in the B3/B2 market. Many DPX and Presstek polyester plate users are now looking to transition to Thermal CtP for improved efficiency and cost savings.
Expanding Global Reach Through Distributors
The shipments to China, Jordan, Colombia, and Tanzania were facilitated by IGS’s extensive distributor network, which supplies print consumables, equipment, and services. These distributors offer IGS CtP systems to their clients as part of a three-year consumables contract, which includes plates, ink, and blankets.

Customers moving from Violet, Polyester, and UV plates to Thermal CtP benefit from daylight operation and the ability to use direct-to-press plates.
